There are so many holes and hidden scenes that aren’t properly explained.Ĭlearly, this isn’t my cuppa. On top of that, characters aren’t introduced in that convenient way that authors are wont to do. Lastly, the book is peppered with awkward scene transitions. She hid their relationship because of a silly commitment she made with her friends, and rather than fess up to her friends that she had, indeed, entered into a relationship, she turned the relationship into a dirty secret. Thirdly, I found the whole motive for hiding the relationship too whimsical. She wilfully disregards Brandon’s feelings countless times, and I wasnt comfortable with her “two-timing.” The FMC comes across as deceptive and selfish. The female main character (FMC) was judgey, and entirely too antagonistic to the people that are her supposed “best friends.” If the author was going for a “real” character-complete with all the flaws-, I’m afraid this was way off the mark. Secondly, in as much as I liked the premise of the book-30-ish divorcee finding herself-, I feel it wasn’t properly executed. And I acknowledge that some errors won’t be spotted by the “everyday reader,” but some of the mistakes were so glaring. I’m a keen-eyed reader and also a proofreader-in-training so, understandably, filtering a written work for errors is second nature to me. For one, some chapters read like a first draft-with all the grammatical errors. This book is not the worst but it definitely could have done with some much needed improvement.
